Nearly 50 enthusiastic students from the 125th Secondary School “Boyan Penev” in Sofia visited on May 19 the MOBICCON-PRO Pilot Plant as part of the Open days initiatives under the project. The visit gave second and fourth graders a unique opportunity to explore the transformation of construction waste into valuable recycled materials—ready to be reintegrated into the construction process.
The young visitors were introduced to the key steps in selective demolition and material recovery, gaining firsthand insights into how circular principles can reduce waste and protect natural resources. The interactive tour helped school students understand why the selective separation of building components is crucial for effective recycling.
Accompanied by members of the project coordinator team – Glavbolgarstroy (GBS), the children learned about the core ingredients of concrete and their sources. The educational experience was made even more memorable with a playful twist: the children created imaginative nicknames for the machinery they encountered. The crusher, for example, became the “Tyrannosaurus,” while the screening and washing system earned the name “Giant Spider.”
Through initiatives like this student visit, the MOBICCON-PRO project is also planting the seeds of sustainability and circularity in the next generation.
