MOBICCON-PRO General Assembly meeting in Brussels

On November 19–20, 2024, the partners of the MOBICCON-PRO project met in Brussels for the M24 Progress Meeting and General Assembly, marking two years of the project. This meeting was an opportunity to review the project’s progress, share insights, and plan the next steps toward achieving its objectives in circular construction and demolition practices.

The first day began with detailed status reports on various activities of the project. These presentations highlighted the collaborative efforts and innovative solutions being developed within the project, including:

  • Territorial Cluster Center which serves as a hub for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and resource management. Located in Sofia, the center is supported by consortium members, municipalities, NGOs, SMEs, and academic institutions.
  • Mobile Pilot Plant for CDW treatment – project partners discussed the updates on the prototyping and operational progress of the Mobile Pilot Plant in Sofia, designed to enable on-site CDW recycling.
  • Innovative construction products from recycled CDW, emphasizing the potential for these innovations to redefine sustainable building practices.
  • Demonstration and validation of the practical application of MOBICCON-PRO’s solutions.
  • Selective demolition practices to improve resource recovery at the demolition stage, further supporting circularity objectives.

On the second day project consortium made a visit to a recycling centre of Belgian company G & A De Meuter where stone fractions are deposited, crushed and resold as new foundation materials. This visit provided an insight at the innovative processes used to collect, sort, and recycle construction and demolition waste (CDW) into valuable resources.

As the project enters its next phase, MOBICCON-PRO remains committed to advancing circular economy principles and sustainable construction practices. Upcoming activities will include additional training sessions, technical visits, and pilot demonstrations, ensuring the ongoing activities of this initiative.
